Preparation for Yoga Nidra

Nancy Debruler | FEB 5, 2023

Yoga Nidra is a deeply relaxing practice that I offer via zoom for you to practice at home.

.Here are a few things to help you have the best experience.

  • Select a location where you will have no distractions
  • Silence your phone or notifications
  • Have a yoga mat, 1-2 soft blankets, a small pillow for your head and any other items to make yourself comfortable such as socks, an eye mask/eye pillow, a bolster or pillow for under your knees
  • It's best if you can use ear buds or headphones but it's not necessary.

You will be setting your intention (Sankalpa) for your practice tonight so perhaps use a few minutes to think about what your intention would be. What would your heart-felt desire be for yourself?

  • Is there an aspect of your health you wish to improve?
  • Do you have a habit you wish to stop?
  • Is there a personal quality you wish to cultivate?
  • Are there new habits or goals you want to reach?

You will state this intention in the present tense, such as, I am strong and healthy, I take time for myself everyday, I am calm and have peace of mind, I face each day with courage.
If you can't think of one now that is fine, sometimes during the practice your Sankalpa will find you.

The practice will be about 30-45 minutes depending on which practice is being offered. You may fall asleep and that is fine. At the end of class if you are asleep you won't be disturbed and the zoom will end.
